91 Days

*Contains spoilers*

I will admit at first for like the first few episodes I really wanted this anime to be in Italian but then I just imagined it was and got over it even though the voice acting was clearly in Japanese. This show started slow for me I had to take breaks a few times and not because it was bad or anything but because it was a lot of talking and mental calculations you had to do along with the main character.

We follow Angelo or Avilio as his alias follow to see a shaggy bum looking kind of young man living in a run down apartment. And he has received mail and the envelope contains basically a list of names of people from the Vanetti family who murdered his family, the Lagusa in front of him when he was a child. Which is so messed up because these two families were suppose to be on the same side but the Vanetti family wanted to be greedy and be on top. I know right crazy spin. From there the creator makes you watch a small flash back on that night when he was little and how watched his family get killed in front of him and then ran away for survival to his best friend's house, Colteo who became the only family he had left. As we get sent back to the present we now figure out that this is basically an Italian mob story and Avilio's family use to be apart of the Mob until betrayal happened. Now the he formulated a plan to personally destroy this family known as the Vanetti Family and for that to happen he has to keep his enemies very close, so with that he finds a way in the family. Luckily Colteo had been working on a very good strong liquor called Lawless Heaven. This was called Lawless Heaven simply because the town there were in was called Lawless. Not only was this liquor illegal it was also hard to come by in these days since it was during the prohibition era. Avilio starts out by, in my opinion, accidentally getting into a shoot out with a unruly character, Fango, a leader of the Orco family and his crew. Now side note you will understand what i mean if you watch this but that Fango man is one seriously sick man. Anyways they get out and both Avilo and Colteo end up with the exact people he was looking for the Vanetti family the oldest son, Nero, the Don's oldest son and Vanno, Nero's subordinate and friend. Later we find out Nero shot at Avilio that night Avilio's family was murdered, but missed terribly, he will regret that shit much later. Using Lawless Heaven Avilio and Colteo gets in with the family and they basically start mass producing it immediately.

As the show goes on a bit he basically kills two birds with one stone because Vanno kills Serpente, Fango's right hand man then Avilio kills Vanno very quickly, but not before he tells him who he is and why he is doing what is doing. Since nobody was around to see it nobody could pin him to that murder. As a plus he used Serpente's body as a cover story saying that Serpente shot Vanno and he shot Serpente so he couldn't get blamed for Vanno's death. And it seems like the law doesn't care if some low level Italian mobsters get put down but the family does and they start looking and find nothing. He covered his tracks very well. And continues getting close to the family. He steadily starts taking down everyone on his list. Even if it wasn't by his physical hand he calculated it. He even drove Nero's younger brother Frate Vanetti mad. Mad enough to commit suicide in front of Nero.

Going further into the anime don't get too attached to anyone because you will feel some kind of pain for them.

Skipping a bit ahead, all for the sake of his revenge he has to swallow his best friends death because if he showed any kind of hurt in front of the family he would blow his cover. So after his friend dies he becomes a lifeless husk on a mission with no other purpose in life but to succeed. He teams up or pretends to team up with Ganzo Alary because he is greedy and wants the position of Don all to himself and he also sent Avilio the letter and is also one of the names. In my opinion I'm not sure how he thought his life was safe. None the less Avilio did what he did so he can destroy the family with in. They duo makes their move on Vincent the former Don at this point big dream day. Everyone in one big theater watching an opera all the mobs in one place, this can't be good. Unfortunately Avilio gets found out by Valbero, but he doesn't know the whole story so he attempts to beat it out of him. This is where Valbero signed his own death note because instead of calling Nero he just calls Ganzo who obviously helps Avilio out, but it all goes down hill from there. For Ganzo at least. Come to find out Ganzo was planning to betray Avilio by teaming up with Strega Galassia, they both want to be Don of their respective families but Avilio has other plans. He goes into the room Vincent Vanetti and Galassia are in and reveals to both of them who he really is and why he is here pointing a gun at them. Just when i thought he was going to kill Vincent he kills Galassia instead and with that Ganzo and Strega's alliance fall apart because Strega assumes that was Ganzo's real plan so Strega takes care of Ganzo for Avilio which i know he calculated because before he was released by Ganzo earlier, Ganzo asked where did he mess up in the plan and Avilio replied with i think the plan is going just fine. Now back to the shootings, Galassia was Vincent's friend so after seeing his friend get killed in front of him Vincent and Nero reunite but it's too late Vincent dies in Nero's arms from his illness. I guess all the stress and shock finally took a toll on him. So he didn't have to kill him, but I'm sure he knew Vincent was going to die very soon anyways. Which was crazy because now Vincent died without accomplishing his dream, so basically he died without accomplishing his purpose in life, that's just pitiful. As Avilio roams through the hallways of the theater injured from being tortured earlier he finds a safe exit, but he has lost a ton of blood because he starts hallucinating Colteo as a kid. With all the craziness happening the Galassia family take full advantage of the mess to obliterate Vanetti Family to seize complete control and power. Now i don't think it was a complete accident but i do feel like at this point Avilio was going with the flow. From being exhausted and bleeding out he was found by Strega in the alley and Nero found out and found where they were keeping him. Nero takes him away from all the commotion there Avilio tells him his story and why he did what he did and how he took from him what he stole from him when he was a kid on that night so long ago.

Skipping forward a bit they have traveled a bit together and they end up traveling towards a beach, but before they get there they make a stop to rest and have a deep talk together. I find it amazing how these two can even sit together but we find out that Avilio was hoping for a reason to live after watching his revenge play out but come to find now he is empty. His reason to live was that revenge plan and now that's over he has no will. At this point I'm not sure why Nero keeps asking Avilio questions about what he did and why he did it. Avilio is not sorry at all and Nero gets nothing out of it but pure hatred and anger. At this point we see Avilio crack a bit because Nero wants to blam him for everything but Avilio basically told him that night he shouldn't have missed and actually killed him. I personally think these two shared a love for a each other. I don't me like BL or nothing but a brotherly love. Because as they travel together to the beach Nero gets comfortable and starts treating him like a traveling buddy instead of a prisoner.

As we finally reach the beach Nero shoots Avilio and i felt a slight relief for him because his pain and suffering is over, but before he does shoot him Avilio tells Nero he didn't want to kill him simply because he didn't want to. Now after killing Avilio Nero drives away and we clearly see he already misses Avilio, but forces a smile out as he drives away.

Now I know you may be thinking well damn why do I want to watch the end. Stay with me on this thought what if he wanted to die because he had nothing else to live for all his loved ones were taken from the Vanetti Family. And him dying was apart of his elaborate but sometimes improvised plans. Because think about it, now Nero has the same thing Avilio had to grow up with and he has to live like that now, with no family or loved ones, he even is sad about killing the murder of his entire family. I feel our main character was taking the "there are worst things than death" approach. I for one think that was brilliant of him. And he just let go at the end and laughed because this guy will be a lifeless husk until he dies. He gets to feel what he felt and that made this anime that much more amazing. Until next time Lexi out.
